How can I tame my natural curls?

So I need some help trying to figure out how to properly style my long, naturally curly hair (and by curly I mean ringlets - not extremely tight though).

I've already learned the basics: shampoo less (and with good shampoo), condition daily, ring out excess water, use a pic or fingers, use my product, and let it air dry. For my product I use a little biosilk or chi serum. I noticed this really helps to tame the define the curls yet keep it soft. However I need to use a little harispray to keep the frizz under control. My problem is that at first my hair has ringlets, and then as the day goes on it starts to loosen up (and for those that have naturally curly hair, that in between look of perfectly defined curls and a little looser does not look great). Usually, it's the next day my curls look the best. But then of course sections are frizzy from sleeping on it.

Overall, what I'm trying to figure out is how to get the natural or next day look right away. I've heard about showering at night (I always shower in the am just to style my hair) and styling and letting it dry then, but how can I sleep without messing it up?

Any recommendations on your entire process for getting natural looking curls it would be greatly appreciated :)How can I tame my natural curls?
I have curly, fine dry hair. Oh, the joy. When it looks good, it looks great. However, this is rare.

I have tried alot of things and this is what works for me.

1) I believe that the ';no shampoo'; practice is great and it works for my thicker-haired curly girl friends. Basically, you don't use shampoo cause to be honest it is sort of a rigged game. First, a person uses detergent to get rid of ';oils'; and then we use a conditioner to make hair soft again? The idea of ';curly girl'; is a person rinses hair, trying not to disturb natural curl pattern, and uses conditioner to massage scalp and on ends. Brown Sugar can be used as scalp exflotient when needed (id scalp itches or feels icky).

Try to air dry as much as possible. Try not to disturb natural curl pattern - i.e. don't scrunch hair alot. Can use clips to lift roots up to get more volume as hair dries.

2) the use of a ';refresher'; during the day. A spray bottle with a little lavendar oil in it can be used to spray at ';wilting'; curls and they will get ';springier'; and more shapely. This does not work for me, but does for many others. I suppose you don't have to use lavender oil.

3) As someone with fine hair, if I don't shampoo sometimes, it is a sad sight. What I do try to do is just use it at roots. I try not to use it every shampoo. I try non-sulfate ones. There are a few.

4) I know completely what you mean about sleeping on it and SILK pillowcases are a god-send. They really really work. Supposedly used alot for preventing wrinkles, they work amazing for hair. All night long there is friction from head (hair) on pillowcases. I have found so much less frizz and tangles with silk cases. Satin, whatever - something that provides some ';slip'; while sleeping.

5) try putting in some product - Phyto 7 I adore- and braiding it before bed.

6) Once a week I put on the cotton pillowcases and sleep with olive oil in hair. It is amazing! I do use a mild ';real'; shampoo the day after (especially on roots) but the hair is so ';happy'; the next few days, less frizz, more shine and suppleness. You could try just putting oil or deep conditioner on ends the night before for better AM wash and style.

7) Basically, don't fall into the ';hydrating'; shampoo concept - it is vicious cycle.

8) you know your hair, but hairspray seems contraindicated and is usually drying. Maybe look for another product to ';keep'; curl? I do like the Bumble %26amp; Bumble curl cream, Phyto 7 mixed with a little liquid gel, or some of the morrocon oil mixed with liquid gel.

Curly Girls of the World Unite! How can I tame my natural curls?
First start out with a really good cut by a stylist that understands curly hair.

Shampoo and conditioner should be highly moisturizing.

My favorite curl product is ';Boing'; by Unite Eurotherapy (a salon brand)...the best I've ever tried!

I air dry and scrunch, barely even finger combing, and don't use combs or brushes. If I use a hair dryer it's always on low with a diffuser.
With a Chair and Whip.
Let My Marines cut your hair.......
im tellin you, go to naturallycurly.com and lurk in the forums, you will learn a lot about curly hair.

Omg..... help with stupid mom and school.?

Okay, so my mom wakes me up for school because I grew up waking up by my mom and not by an alarm clock. So my mom would always wake me up at 6:45am when school starts at 7:10am. I was late to school 2 weeks straight because of my mom. I never said anything about it but I'm really sick of this because today my homeroom teacher wrote me up for coming to school late..... I was like ';Wth. Okay, I don't care.'; because it's not my fault.

So I need to fix my hair by straightening/curling it and she gave away my ';CHI'; straightener to someone else without even asking me. WTH. DOES SHE HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH A CHI STRAIGHTENER COST? So I have to use a cheap drugstore straightener now and EVERYONE KNOWS THAT IT TAKES MORE THAN JUST 5 MINS. TO FIX YOUR HAIR but my mom was like ';You can fix your hair LESS THAN 5 MINUTES'; and I got mad and I told her ';Shut up, if it's so possible for anyone to do their hair in less than 5 minutes, then you do it. Show me. I want to see'; and she got mad and started talking crap about me. But anyways, my mom refuses to wake me up earlier and I don't want to go to school looking like a frizzy haired freak.

And I've been late for 2 weeks straight already and supposedly our school supports a program where you get a certain amount of tardies and you'll be sent to ';0 Credit'; and you would either have to go to summer school or re-take the school year..... Is there a way to get rid of all these tardies? Because it's not even MY FAULT and my counselor knows how immature my mom is because she's spoken to her before and she knows that I get abused by her. (Another story.)Omg..... help with stupid mom and school.?
I know how you feel. You can go to the store and buy a fairly cheap alarm clock (5 bucks maybe less) and it works fine, it's what I did. I'm a dude and I take more than 5 minutes on my hair lol.Omg..... help with stupid mom and school.?
Get an alarm clock. I know about mom's talking **** about taking too long to get ready, so now you just need to start taking control of your school attendance.

I guess you're **** out of luck then. Sorry.
set an alarm clock so you can wake up earlier
Oh honey- you ought to go hug that woman! Cause if you were my kid you would have the wake up call of your life!
Buy an alarm clock, quit blaming others for you immature shortcomings, man up and face the penalties for being late. You are a spoiled selfish child and if you were my child I would knock you into next Tuesday.
Do you have a cell phone? If you do you can use the alarm clock on that to wake up.
School starts at 710? Damn that's early...well what I suggest is you be responsible...like wake up earlier yourself, don't rely on your mom...grow up
Honey, you need to set an alarm clock for yourself. Figure out how much time you need to get ready and allow for that so you can get to school on time. This is your responsibility.
You need to start taking responsibility for yourself and stop blaming others for your problems.

Its a simple solution. Get up earlier. If it takes you 45 minutes to get ready, then you need to get up 45 minutes earlier. Get an alarm clock like others have said. Mommy isn't going to be around to get you up for the rest of your life so learn to deal with it.
should have traded in that CHI iron for a cheaper straightener and an alarm clock...

also if you go to sleep at 10pm or 9pm you will usually wake up earlier...
Here's an online alarm clock! http://onlineclock.net/
Break your mom's freakin rules and get your own alarm clock!
Snivelling about your mom doesn't help you.

Get your own clock. Hide it if necessary. There are some very quiet and cheap ones available.

You are old enough to use a computer, surely a clock is simpler and would end this little problem.

Sounds as though this is not really about a stupid clock but other issues.

Don't bother responding to me, I can't be bothered with spoiled brats.
Seriously? I get up a 6:00 AM for school starting at 7:30! It's far. Get used to life. SUCK IT UP! You'll get used to it soon enough. and im only 13. My mother + father go to sleep at 12 am-2am and wake up at 6am - 7 am. IT'S LIFE, GET OVER IT!!!! But i still feel pity for u. I know how it is to get used to this crap for your whole life then you actually have to wake up....

IT SUCKS!!!

oh well... ; )
Perhaps buy a watch that you can set your alarm on. They have ones that vibrate and won't even make a noise. Learn to take it upon yourself to wake up instead of relying on others. Try to explain to your mom that getting an alarm clock or something to help you wake up, will help you get to school on time, give you time to fix your hair and get ready for the day, and save her the hassle of waking you up in the mornings.

How can I get my curls to not be so spirally?

I have long, naturally curly hair. My curls are similar to Taylor Swifts (when she wears them a little tighter). I'm trying to figure out the best way to style them.

I know the basics for caring for curly hair: shampoo every few days with shampoo made for curly hair, condition daily, twist out water, use a wide-tooth comb to brush it. Now this is my issue - I use a little chi serum or biosilk when my hair is still damp - this keeps my hair soft and defined. However I need to use a little hairspray to keep my hair from getting frizzy. Then I let my hair air dry.

After it dries, my hair is pretty curly. As the day goes on, the curls loosen up. However, as people who have curly hair know, when some of your curls are tight and the rest are more relaxed it doesn't look right. After the day is done, all my curls are relaxed and that's the look I want (almost like second day curls). I was told that showering at night and letting them dry will produce that look in the morning, however how do I not get bed head? What kind of rollers/products can I use at night or in the am to prevent or fix it?How can I get my curls to not be so spirally?
Try showering in the afternoon and air drying your hair all afternoon and evening. If you go to sleep with wet hair you will almost definitely get bedhead. I have the same problem, but with waves instead of curls. I can't vouch for this because I haven't tried it, but here is one other thing you could try. Shower before bed and let it air dry a bit, so its not soaking. Use your normal products and then pile your hair up on your head and wear a swim or shower cap to bed. Your hair may still be damp in the morning so just make sure you take it down in time for it to dry the rest of the way before you leave. Good luck! How can I get my curls to not be so spirally?
i would just let them dry naturally, and once they look the way you want them , spray them so they stay like that. hope tht helps. %26amp; if you get the chance answer my most recent question it would help alot thanx(:

I curl my hair with my chi everyday, look on youtube and you'll get it promise, thats how i learned

I want big curly/wavy hair with my flat iron, but HOW?!?

I love experimenting with my hair and trying new styles and such. I just bought a really nice chi, and as you may know you can make cute curls/waves with a flat iron. But it seems flat? Like... the curl itself. I mean i can tease my hair and really fluff it up but... the curl, itself, is very flat. Anybody know anything that i can do to fix this? Am i doing something wrong? Are there any products you can suggest? If so, id love your help. Thanks (:I want big curly/wavy hair with my flat iron, but HOW?!?
MOUSSE MOUSSE MOUSSE MOUSSE MOUSSE!!!!

i have flat straight hair and it can NOT curl without it. (or some really good hairspray but hairspray always makes my hair crunchy and hard when i curl it)

also, look up on youtube how to curl hair with a flat iron. it takes practice

Answer and you will be my hero!?

I am a 15 year old girl with thick dirty blonde hair. Every day I wear it the same way: I straighten it with my Chi Flat Iron, and wear it down. Naturally my hair is thick and weird wavy-curly. I have long layers and sideswept bangs.

1. How do I get beach waves?

2. How can I make my natural wavy-curly hair look good?

3. How can I curl hair with a diffuser, my Chi, or hot rollers?

4. Where can I find cute headbands?

5. How do I do a messy bun?

6. What are some other easy ways to do my hair? casual style

7. How do I french braid?

8. What products will work well for me?

9. What would be a good haircut for me- oval face, blue eyes?

Thanks, I know that is a lot of questions, but I need help! You can answer one or a couple or all, your choice! Best answer will recieve 10 points!Answer and you will be my hero!?
1. try a volume/curling spray, twist hair when its wet into a bun and let dry if its long or you can scrunch it or curl with a 1-2 inch (depending on length) curling iron and separate he curls

2. try different styles. spend those days,u know, the ones when ur home doing nothing, trying new styles. when u get done w/ one wash ur hair and do another. dont be afraid to try something uve never thought of.

3. diffuser-blow dry on low w/o using a comb or brush; i dont have a chi so i cant help there; hot rollers are easy! just heat them, roll 1-2 inch sections of hair, set for 30 min and take out and run fingers through it (if u use a brush it will frizz)

4. headbands-walmart, target, flea markets, pretty much any teen clothing store in the mall, any teen store period

5. i've only succeeded at a messy bun once. i think its one of those things where u know it or dont. sorry, no advice. maybe get a friend to do one on u and maybe u can figure it out?

6. dry with a diffuser and pull it half back w/ a clip, hairband, bobbypins, ribbons. with wavy hair its easy to take one style and do it many different ways and wear the same style to school, practice, dates, and even church. it all depends on the accessories.

7. start with 3 pieces and braid the 1st 2 strands like a normal braid and each strand after that pick up a piece of hair from what is loose

8. volumizing sprays (dont use gels, it weighs ur already heavy hair down and makes it flat), bed head products are really good.

9. exactly the way you have it. long layers dont make it look poofy and even if it gets frizzy its not as noticible. in my opinion, the longer the better. no layers above the shoulder though.Answer and you will be my hero!?
I have curly hair too and i flat iron it. I can only answer a couple.

1. I get my beach waves...after i go in the pool i just dry off my hair with my towel and let it fall into place.

6. You can do your hair with ur bangs but back kinda like a bump on top of your head and u can do that with curly or straight hair it looks good either way. Kinda like what fergie does.
Holy crap, woman. Okay, if you have thick hair, this shouldnt be that hard. Most of the time, you can use your flat iron to make the waves by using it like a curling iron, or using warm salt water sprayed onto your hair. Let your hair be free! Let it take it's own beautiful shape and be what it was meant to be! Okay, well I basically told you the third one... Umm, you can get cool headbands from Hot Topic, Clare's, or American Eagle's got some cute ones. Messy buns are like ponytails, you do the same thing, but you don't pull the ponytail all the way through!!! Casual? Like I said let your hair do it's job. French braiding is basically taking four strands instead of three and braiding. Very hard! Keep using ur Chi.. I love that brand. You can also use like a deep conditioner to make your hair softer. A good haircut for you would to be to keep your hair at least three inches below your shoulders. Also, layering your hair may make it a little thicker, but it'll make it healthier and you will also make it look awesome with the waves, the straight hair, and the messy bun!!!!
1. after you get out of the shower put gel in your hair

2. mousse

3. hot rollers or a curling iron

4. claires, bealls, walmart

5. grab your hair and put in in a pony tail. then you can twist it to the left. then twist it ';up'; this time and make a ';ball'; with it (on your head of course). make sure its loose.

6. french braid, baided pigtails, curls...

7. you braid your hair regularly and while you braid it, grab other peices of hair from the sides and include it with the other peices.

8. idk. sunsilk works awesome for me.

9. layers with side bangs.
OK, SO I CAN HELP YOU MAKE YOUR CURLES LOOK GREAT. MY HAIR USED TO BE SO STRAIGHT WHEN I WAS LITTLE, COMPLETELY THIN, AND WOULD NOT HOLD CURL. WELL, ABOUT TIME I TURNNED 13 THAT ALL CHANGED. IT'S SO WEIRD, MY MOM'S CURLY HAIR FINALLY KICKED IN. SO, I HAD TO GO FROM STRAIGHT TO THICK AND CURLY. THE TRANSITION WAS WIERD BUT I LEARNED TO DEAL W/ IT AND OVER THE PAST 4 YEARS I'VE MASTERED IT. OK, SO I USE GARNIER CURL AND SHINE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER. ONCE I GET OUT OF THE SHOWER I LEAVE IT IN THE TOWEL FOR AT LEAST 3 MINUTES TO GET RID OF EXCESS WATER. THEN I PULL IT BACK W/ A SCRUNCHIE AND BLOW DRY MY BANGS, B/C THEY HAVE TO HAVE SPECIAL ATTENTION. AFTER THAT I LET IT OUT OF THE SCRUNCHIE AND USE MOUSSE. I'VE TRIED ALMOST EVERY KIND AND I RECENTLY TRIED AUSSIE. IT SMELLS GREAT AND WORKS GOOD TOO. SO I PUT A HANDFUL IN MY PALMS AND RUB IT TOGETHER TO GET RID OF THE FOAM AND RUN MY FINGERS THROUGH MY HAIR. I REPEAT THIS OVER ALL SECTIONS UNTILL THERE'S NO POSSIBLE WAY FOR FRIZZ. THEN, DO NOT BLOW DRY IT!!! THIS ALWAYS MAKES MINE FRIZZ. IF U USE ENOUGH MOUSSE IT WON'T FRIZZ, SO LET IT AIR DRY. IF U GO TO BED ON IT, U WAKE UP AND IT'S A MESS!! SO I SPRAY MINE VERY WET W/ A SQUIET BOTTLE OF WATER AND COMB IT OUT AND SEPERATE IT W/ MY FINGERS. IF UR HAIR'S SUPER CURLY IT WILL BOUNCE BACK UP. WET IT, GET IT DAMP, ALMOST LIKE OUTTA THE SHOWER, AND THEN USE THE MOUSSE THE SAME WAY U DID THE NIGHT B4. I'VE TRIED TONS OF THINGS W/ MY CURLS AND THIS HAS WORKED THE BEST. REMEMBER, DON'T BLOW DRY. ONLY YOUR BANGS. HOPE THIS HELPS.

Which is a better straightener PLEASE HELP!!!! at least READ THIS and whoever helps the most gets 10 points?

A Sedu flat iron is proven to work and have better results than CHI.

I suggest getting a Sedu flat iron.Which is a better straightener PLEASE HELP!!!! at least READ THIS and whoever helps the most gets 10 points?
i was debating this a while back;

i would go with sedu because its reviews are slightly better

and Chi's are known to break / go on fire after like 6 months and not worth the money

but i guess its a matter of opinion %26amp; there won't be a HUGE difference.

as for shampoo and conditioner

i swear by Garnier Fructis Sleek %26amp; Shine

fully condition every shower =] [only shampoo a few times a week]

love it =]

and i heard aussie is good too but havent used it myself
i have a CHI, and when i straighten my hair i don't use any special shampoo or anything else. i just use normal shampoo and conditioner. after i take a shower i blow dry my hair, then straighten ii by layers and it comes out shiney. so you dont need al lthe extras.
CHI's are better my friends have em and their really awesome

and thats prolly edited

everyone is jealous of my hair at skewl i dont know y

i scrub in some pert shampoo and conditioner (2 in 1)

and then i use pantene ice shine

then when i am done i rinse it out reeeeally well and i wrap it in a towel

and i have a straightner

=]
Most people will say get the CHI. I just have some lame straightener that doesn't work so well so I asked this kinda question earlier and I'll show you what I got. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a> also as for shampoo, I'd go for tresemme, I have naturally gross frizzy hair but tresemme makes my hair fabulous! (do i sound like a commercial or what?)
CHI is very good working hair straightener and Cheaper also.

  • how to connect with people
  • How can I keep my hair straight?

My natural hair is long, thin, brown with big, open curls. Kinda like this: http://images03.olx.com/ui/1/79/62/79077鈥?/a>

I straighten my hair every other day with a Conair Infiniti Nano Silver Steam Straightener [red]. I divide into sections when straightening and that helps a little. I also use CHI Straight Guard before, and it also helps. By the end of the day, my hair will be a little more wavy, with more volume.

So, I've been wondering if there are any good techniques/products to keep the hair as straight as it is when I finish straightening, without sprays that make your hair as hard as stone. Here is a list of the products I have:

Schwarzkopf Gliss Hair Repair shampoo [%26lt;- I use this every other day]

Biosilk Finishing Spray - firm hold

    Indola Silk %26amp; Cotton spray

CHI Straight Guard [%26lt;- I use it]

    CHI Silk Infusion

    CHI Keratin Mist

Frizz-Ease Take Charge Curl Boosting Mousse

Frizz-Ease Clearly Defined Style Holding Gel

    Schwarzkopf osis+ Sherbet Wax Spray

That's it.. As I said, if none of these products will help me achieve iron-straight hair for a whole day, please tell me the name of the product %26amp; how to use it, and I'll order it. :)

A series of make up questions for my school dance =] Please help!! =] thank you?

    okay my first question is,

1.should i buy a primer? i have always been told to use moisturiser.

2.okay, before i put eye make up on, i have always put a little moisturiser. but i have been told to put a little bit of concealer? and another friend told me to put a bit of primer. What is the right thing to do.

3.i have small eyes, its not that bad, buts its small. i like to put eye liner on the top of my upper lash. and smudge it a little. would an eyeliner pencial work best, or a liquid one?

    4. i like to use white eyeliner on my bottom waterline. So which brand of white eyeliner works best?

    5. i am asian, i wana have an awesome eye make up, but i wana wear a real out there red pinky lip stick cause my lips are real nice and big. what eye shadow colour would look nice?

6.which eye shadow brand works best? i shop from a few (loreal, maybelline, cover girl, mac, chi chi. lacome, rimel) which one of these are the best. and how would you rate them?

    7. i wana dye my hair deep blue black at home, which brand works best and last the longest?

    8. i hate it when a masacarra is claimed to be water proof, buts its not and it smudges a little. which brand works best?

    9. i wana buy a lash curler, which brand works best? Rimel, loreal or manicure?

    10. i am asian, which eye shadow colour works best, and suit me the most?

    11. how do i do smokey purple eyes, without looking like i have been punched?

    12. i hate it when i paint my nails a deep red colour, and it goes on the beds of my nails or gets real messy. how do i stop that from happening?

    13. which type of black eyeliner is known to be the best in the market? how can you tell between a good eye liner and a crap one?

    14. which concealer works better, a liquid one, a moose one, a stick one or a powder one?

    15. which blush is better, a moose one or a powdered one?

    21. should i put on concealer first or foundation first?

    22. i wana get my eye brows dones. should i get it professionally done or do it myself? how do i do it myself?

THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR ANSWERING

IT REALLY HELPS. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH =]A series of make up questions for my school dance =] Please help!! =] thank you?
    1. Yes buy a primer. It keeps your makeup on and staying fresh. That way you dont have to go to the bathroom to touch up.

    2. Yes get a primer because concealer and moisturizer together will cake it. A good eye primer is urban decay primer potion. this is only for eye. for face get a face primer such as the smash box photo finish.

    3. A liquid, if you know how to control it would work better.

    4. Any white eyeliner would do. if you are willing to spend the money then MAC fascinating eye kohl would work very well. \

    5. I think pruple looks good on any race and on any skin type.

    6. MAC is the best. it has great qaulity.

    7. I'm sorry but i dont know much when it comes to dying my hair. i only dye at the salon.

    8. You dont need a waterproof mascara cause you are not gonna swim at your dance but you do need a smudge proof one. a great smudge proof one is maybelline unstoppable.

    9. All eyelash curlers are the same to me because they all do the job. I say get the cheapest one and use the otehr money in something else. the cheapest one is manicare.

    10. Purple

    11. Blending the colour and not making the purple go too high up your crease. ALso dont put purple under your eye like you normally do for a smokey look because if you do then u will look like you just got punched.

12.I think when it comes to nailp polish, it comes to the brand. a good brand is OPI

    13. A good one is mac technakohl eyeliner or a dupe for that is the maybelline define-a-line.

    14. Liquid is best for events like these because powder will look cakey and stick will make you look patchy. Mousse ones will define your dry skin so i say liquid.

    15. Powder

    16. Because a cream eyeshadow will looked cakey so use powder.

    17. blue eyeshadow is more for a peachy blush

    18. With an actual curler

    19. I cant help you on this.

    20. Liquid because its a big event however set with with a powder

    21. concealer first

    22. do it professionally.A series of make up questions for my school dance =] Please help!! =] thank you?
this is only a dance and isnt school over
1 .i have never used a primer i have only used special misturizer but i did have primer apllied to me when i had my makeover

    2. i would when you put your foundation on sweep it over your eye lid and also i would use some sort of eye primer too

    3. if you want to get used to a steady hand you could you eyeliner pencil until you get used to it. or you could easily use eyeshadow .

    4. not sure

    5. i would say maybe a purple or a nice bright colour experiment

    6. i don't know can't wear them

    7. don't know

    8. maybeliene for waterproof

    9. it doesn't matter i use manicure but you can use whatever but a tip put it under the hair dryer and then curl it will last longer

    10. not sure

    11. put a light purple on then a darker shade and then on the edge of your eye put a darker amount of purple and smudge

    12. put tissue there when you do your manicure

    13. a good one is when it goes on easily and not blunt

    14. a liquid / cream

    15. powder one but mousse might stay on longer not sure

    16. because it creases in you eye

    17. yh as long as it looks natural yep

    18. i find curler but it depends on your hair

    19. try a dance shop

    20. liquid my mum perfers mineral powder

    21. conealer

    HELP MY HAIR IS HORRIBLE!?

Ok so i have really curly hair which i straighten everyday and yes it is dry but its not fried cuz i use heat protector and a chi striaghtener anyways... I tease my hair and it curls back up. I have a haircut with layers and its textured so i tease it and it just gets staticky and starts to curl back up and gets into the bad puffy . How do i fix this? no i will not straightening my hair and no i will not stop teasing it. Just need some tips on this plzz :) Also how do u get your hair really shiny looking but not greasy. Cuz my hair is kind of dry but not really dry. thanks to all who answer sorry this is long btw.HELP MY HAIR IS HORRIBLE!?
I have choppy layers as well and style my hair the same way, and I have the same problem

because I live in florida where it's always humid =/ but anyways, I use ';frizz-ease heat defeat'; before straightening my hair. Then, after my hair is straight. I spray in a little bit of hair spray (not too much, or else it will stick together and look funny'; Then, proceed to tease your hair. Make sure you spray more hairspray to make it stay. To give it a shinier look I spray a little bit of a product called ';smooth shine polishing'; I got my hair products from either wal-mart or target I don't remember which one. But both products work really well in humidity and hottness. Sometimes, if I'm too lazy to straighten my hair I just scrunch it after a shower by adding gel while my hair is still wet and letting it air dry. Then I spray a bit of hairspray in it. This is healthier for your hair and looks more natural. It also makes it so that you can wear your hair curly and it wont frizz.HELP MY HAIR IS HORRIBLE!?
Rinse your hair in cold water to make it shiny....I would get a professionals help on the other things....Good luck.

accept %26amp; embrace your curly hair!!! God gave it to you for a reason! =)

or if you insist of being straight, you can find a chemical straightener from Sally's or a similar store. CAUTION on the chemicals though.. they can fry your hair if its already unhealthy. but if you dont dye it a lot u should be ok.

you can also buy shine spray from Sallys or like store that u spray in %26amp; makes it shiny. =)

    CURLING WITH A FLAT IRON?

Ok so a lot of the thin (like 1';) straighteners are also said to be used for curling your hair. I just purchased a ULTRA CHI 1'; %26amp; was wondering if anyone has tried to do it %26amp; how it works. its definetly good for flipping the bottom of your hair, ive tried that. how does the curling work? what do you do? also....anyone else have this flat iron? Its an ULTRA CHI 1';, red, %26amp; it came with a pouch to carry it in %26amp; a lil bottle of the silk infusion! that made me happy. lol. it was like $159.00

Thanks guys!CURLING WITH A FLAT IRON?
I have used my chi straigtener to curl my hair and it works and looks greatt!..i dont think its the ultra but it shouldnt make a difference. a lot of my friends think its hard to do it..but its actually really easy once you get the hang of it. all you have to do is clamp your hair as if you were straightening it and then use both of your hands to twist/rotate it around. it should create a good curl..if its too spiral for you, you can lightly straighten it and it should ease it down. you also want to do a larger chunk of hair because if you do a lot of little ones, it might look funny!! haha and once your done make sure you separate the curls so it looks natural! :) good luck!CURLING WITH A FLAT IRON?
Wow, this will be hard to explain but will try my best. Grab small sections of your hair. Start half way, place the hair in the flat iron, then begin twisting while working yourself down the ends. Walk into any beauty supply store that sells flat irons the sales rep should be able to show you how. That's what I did %26amp; now I curl my hair all the time with a flat iron (works much better than a curling iron). Looks great!

good luck :-)HELP!!! How do you .... ?
hair straightner is to STRAIGHTEN your hair and not o curl....
you put your hair in starting at the end as if you are straighting it but you have to close it down on your hair at the end and wrap your hair around the outside of the iron and then flip it
Place your straightners at the top of you hair (as you do to straighten it), but then pull it down slowly and twist the straightners around.

    all my best (:

e-mail me if you want to know anything else (:

    Hairstyles??

I have kinda thick %26amp; curly hair. I straighten it most of the time but if i 'scrunch' it with gel, it gets frizzy later in the day.I have a CHI straightener and it straightens really well. It says you can also curl your hair with it but i dont know how to do that. I tried to use a curling iron but it didn't work very well. I want to try to get soft curls kinda like the red-haired model on the American Eagle website. Does anybody know how to do that or something like that thats easy and quick? Also does anyone know how to do curls with a CHI straightener?Hairstyles??
first you need to take a shower and brush your hair wait till your hair dries but make sure you don't put any products in your hair, then you take your curling iron and just simply curl you can even get soft curls because you brushed your hair. now to curl your hair with a straitening iron is very simple just reapete what i just said except use a straitening iron. except your straightener has to have round edges. then take the (small) piece of hair put it in the straightener and curl your hair wile twisting it three times on the outside and that will get you three loops so now you have curly SMOOTH hair!!Good luck.Hairstyles??
Continue to use gel but also use a HAIR DIFFUSER - best invention for curly hair. Easy and quick. Enjoy your new style!
I have thick wavy hair and i use john frieda frizz ease spray and my hair is never gets very frizzy. also i have heard that using a towel to dry your hair makes it frizzy so i usually let it just air dry. brush it whens its wet because when its dry and you brush it it tends to get messer. hope this helped.

    Question about Hair Straightner?

I was thinking of buying a CHI Ceramic Flat Iron 1 inch Original Farouk Hair Straightener. It say that u can curl and flip your hair too. I was wondering if that is true and if anybody has tried doing that and how it worked out. so please let me know thanks

I have a corioliss hair straightener, and it makes my hair look really pretty. I don't know about that kind, but it would probably work!
for filp flops you could try

well my boyfriends sister had a chi, and it didn't straighten my hair very well... i was unhappy w/ the results. as for the flipping thing... i recommend the mini maxi glide... its awesome... and the regular maxi glide... when you first use it its kinda complicated... and you have to get used to it... but once you do its awesome!
Yes, the straightener works very good.

    I recommend it hun.

And for the flipflos I think I've seen them in Rue21 or even walmart or kmart. I'm sure you'll find one. But for more fashionable go to ebay if you cant find one you dont like.
    yeah its true!

thats how the girl curled my hair for prom last year!

heres a picture of it (i have borwn hair)

here is a video so you know how!..theres a bunch more on you tube if you just type in something like ';how to curl hair with a flat iron'; (or straightener)

and for your other question..old navy has really cheap flip flops..for like 5$.

i also like the ones at ae, buckle, delias, and aeropostale might have some fuzzy ones?
at the mall i tried the straightner for curls and straight. it will stay straight/curly a few days. i took a shower and was surprised the spots i tried it out on stayed.
the chi is the best flat iron out there for curling your hair as well as making it straight.

    so yeah, its true.

%26amp; lol.. fluffy flip flops? never heard/seen them.
I use my straighten to curl my hair lol.

It sounds weird but it works...

My ex also used his moms curling iron to straighten his hair...

I dunno, but it works that way.
CHI is a good make but i would reccomend the GHD styler as i have them and can do everything to my hair with them they also come with a cd that explains how to do this.

Would I look better with long bangs or medium?

would i look better with long bangs or medium, i have an oblong face. I also want to know if its better to straighten your hair first then curl it with the chi. (Any tips how to straighten in 20 or so minutes?) Thanks ! Would I look better with long bangs or medium?
well itd would help to have a picture.

i think bangs look good on everyone, its just a matter of how you style them.

it depends on how much hair you have %26amp; how thick it is.

it takes me FOREVER to straighten mine. like an hour and a half.

i need help with my hair too. lawl.

  • Iso vs. Chi flatiron?

Is there really a difference? Which one is better? I was watching videos on youtube about how to curl your hair with a flatiron and the Iso said that it lasts for days without using any product.. is this true?

    Thanks!Iso vs. Chi flatiron?
There's really not a difference, but CHI might actually be cheaper. Those curls won't last for days. Actually, they might but they would be screwed up, weird and nasty.Iso vs. Chi flatiron?
    hey,

i have heard that the iso does actually last for days, but my i have personal experience with the chi and it works great.
CHI works way better than any other straightner. I have like three straightners and the Chi is the best.
personally, i LOVE chi. the one i have takes less than 20 seconds to heat up which is great when i have to do my hair fast. It depends on what your hair is like, it could go for days but i HIGHLY doubt it. It doesn't really matter which flatiron you get, but just don't get a cheap one because i got a cheap one thinking they were all the same and it was TERRIBLE it took like 5 minutes to heat up! so if you have the money, go for chi i PROMISE its worth the money!

Best/cheapest 1 to 1-1/2 inch flat iron for loose curls?

I've seen the pink Chi flat iron with curved edges used to make gorgeous curls.

But my straightener now is a two inch and straightens perfectly so I don't really want to invest in another expensive straightener.

So, to those of you who curl your hair with a flat iron, which one do you use and how do you like the results?Best/cheapest 1 to 1-1/2 inch flat iron for loose curls?
Paul Mitchell has the best flat irons in the world. That is all i use product wis and i have never been happier with my hair. They just came out with a new flat iron the Express Ion Smooth. It has a silicone strip on one side that shines your hair as you smooth it or curl it. It also never grabs. You know how sometimes your flat iron stops and makes a crimp? This one doesn't get caught up. Try it you will love it. It is an investment but it has a lifetime warrenty. Meaning if it for any reason breaks send it in the box it came in to the address that is in the box and they send yours or a new one back to you.

Corioliss or CHI? Which do you think is better and why? Please tell your experience with each?

i had bought the CHI less than a year ago and I like it alot but i think that its kinda hard to curl or flip with it. It doesn't make the ends look that good. Today i was in the mall and the girl was like come sit here and i'll let you try this and it was the Corioliss and it made my hair super shiny, smooth, and soft without using any products. She also showed me how to curl my hair with it and it was very easy to do. So, based on your experience which do u think is better. I always liked the CHI and everyone always talks about how good it is but now that i tried the Corioliss i would recommend that more and for me it cost less than the CHI.Corioliss or CHI? Which do you think is better and why? Please tell your experience with each?
it works 10 times better i would recommend getting it and it is very easy to use AKA the coriolissCorioliss or CHI? Which do you think is better and why? Please tell your experience with each?
    CHI!!! it is way better!
i have had the corioliss for not even a year yet and it like has trouble turning on it still works but it turns on and off and sometimes takes long to turn off... but i havent tried the CHI

    i hope this helps =]

What do you use to make your curls last all day ?

okay i have a chi straightener and i curl my hair with it %26amp; i love how it comes out (:

but what can i put on after or before i curl it to make it stay?

i have mousse, should i put mousse on then curl it ?

and oh i use hairspray after tooWhat do you use to make your curls last all day ?
when its wet, put a small amount in and try curling it that way.

what i do, at night when my hair is wet, i twist my hair into curls and put my hair in braids too, then go to sleep and take them out in the morning. it kinda takes some practice to get it perfect but they last all day for me. :] good luck.

ps i use herbal essence tousle me softly when its wet and after i take the braids out when its dry. but only use a small amount both times. over do-ing it will make your hair crunchy. What do you use to make your curls last all day ?
I actually hairspray it before I curl it as well. So before you go to curl a piece spray it with hairspray (or you can also spray a layer you're about to curl and then continue). So after spraying the piece you will want to run the comb through it once to make sure it the curling iron will still curl it smooth and then curl as you normally would.

At the end give your head a good spray as well and that should do it for you!
curl your hair with a hot curling iron in the morning and immediatly after apply hair spray but not too much. keep a small can of hair spray with you in a purse or something and if you notice the hair spray starting to wear off apply a little bit more. you could also do this with curlers you sleep in and put the hair spray while the curlers are in, then take the curlers out. also how i like to roll with straightners and curling irons is the hotter the better :P
Im a hairdresser and i find the best way to make curls is to use a curling iron with a medium strength hairspray and let it dry %80 before wrapping the hair in the curling iron.. depending on how hot your iron is.. i would say leave it from 5 - 10 seconds and then when you release the curl, hold it with your hand up, dont let it fall. hold it up untill it cools down (this will make the curl stay in this position for longer)
some brands have curling sprays/mousse so you can use that on wet hair, blow dry and curl as usual, the products help curl and keep them in.when finished each layer of curls put a quick mist of hair spray on them, then put a mist on when completely done. sometimes you can just add a little curling mousse/spray the next day and it will revitalise your curls so you can have a cute up do :)
If you're having touble holding a curl take my advice. first i just wana say, the wet scrunchy curls are soo outdated. big bouncy soft and shiny curls are much more gorgeous, but in order for them to hold, your hair needs to be well conditioned. layering tons of hairspray and gels makes it look dry and frizzy.

first shampoo and condition you hair as normal (if your hair is fine and has no body, try hot oil treatments once a week).

while it is still damp add a leave-in cream conditioner

dry it with a round brush and an ionic hair dyer about 3/4 of the way dry

lightly spray in a curl booster or little flexable hold hair spray

then use rollers to curl your hair (curling irons only damage your ends)

let them down when they're completely dry

i promise, your hair will stay curly all day and all night!!!

    %26lt;33
do not put mousse in first, it will only damage your hair. the way i curl my hair is i wash it the night before and in the morning i brush it and put it into sections. as you curl spray a little hairspray after you release the curl (i like to use biolage or christophe) then when your done, hair spray again (not too much) and there you go. spray through the day if needed.
You can use a curling mousse. However, putting hairspray in after should hold it.
    YOUR HEAD!!! HAHAHAHHA!!!
after u do curl your hair put your best hair spray on it-------then blow dry it after wards-no mousse no nothing b4 u put curlers in
Spray it down. Make sure your hair is clean!!!!!
Use hair spray but not to much or littel
Soya sauce. It smell good too.
long silky hair i s attractive
    curly hair is unattractive...

What is the best way to curl hair?

I have very thick, long and naturally wavy hair that is usually really frizzy. In the past the way I've curled my hair is I will straighten it with my CHI straightener, and then curl it with my straightener. Unfortunately, very quickly it will loose the curls since it was very straight prior to curling.

What do you think would be the best way for me to curl my hair? I like big curls and with the straightener they are usually pretty small.

    http://www.hairzingers.com/black-curly-hair-styles.jpg

Keep in mind please that I have a LOT of hair. Enough for two heads. It's a lot, thick, and very long. It usually takes me about 2 hours to straighten it. With another 1 1/2 to 2 hours to curl it.

Would I be better off getting a curling iron? Or rollers? Or setters?

Please let me know your opinion, product name and how I would use it.

Would I have to straighten my hair first? Wet hair? Etc. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

    Price isn't really an issue.

    Thanks ahead for your answers.

Oh and I live in England so it must be either bi-voltage or 220V.What is the best way to curl hair?
Aw, i know what you mean. I have really thick hair too ):

I normally use my straightener to curl my hair and turn the straightener faster for looser curls then use hairspray after to hold the curls.

The second best way to curl your hair would be to use a 1 1/2 inch or 2 inch barrel iron and also use a good holding hairspray like big sexy curls or something because without it, your curls will become looser as the day progresses. Once you get out of the shower, put some volumizing mousse into your hair. You should try curling your hair without straightening it, maybe that will work better ?What is the best way to curl hair?
Okay i have the same kind of hair.

I say you should go out and buy yourself a Conair curling iron

    It should be a decent size 1inch - 1 1/2 inches.

Separate you hair and clip the different layers up.

    Start from the bottom layer.

Your hair should be blow dried to the point where its dry

When curling your hair, curl the opposite direction of your face.

For ex: if your using your right hand to curl a small section of hair on the left side of your face your wrist should turn counter clockwise.

That would be curling away from your face

Then after curling all hair one the bottom layer, I suggest spraying some hair spray on it to hold the curls in until you finish all of the layers. I use aussie hair spray, i love it to death and it smells lovely.

pull down the next layer and curl that one the same way.

Continue this process until you make it to the top layer.

Spend the most time on the top layer, it needs to look best.

You wont get it perfect on your first try, your gonna have to practice and you'll get better every time.

    I hope I helped (:

    Good luck!

Forgot to add, straitening you hair before curling it isnt a good idea. It will confuse the hair, thats probably why the curls tend to fall out when you curl them with your straitener.
lol aw bless, i have allot of hair too. Its very thick and very annoying to handle, when i curl my hair i use GHD Straighteners. They are actually really good to curl with so you might try using them?:) Also don't straighten your hair before curling it as it makes it much harder to handle and probably wont be as curly. This might disgust you but you shouldn't actually wash your hair before curling it either as my older cousin curls mine for me. She says its allot easier for her if i don't wash it and its just simply dry as well. She curls it in sections too as i have so much hair lol but seriously GHD straighteners do work well as i don't really want to spend allot on good curlers. Hope i helped a little?

Please help on how to flat iron and curl my hair !!!?

Hi, when i flat iron my thick/ frizzy hair it takes 45 mins. and i usually burn myself!!! how can i not burn myself? i try to hold the hair away from my face but i mess-up. i have been straightening my hair for over 7 years and ahh!! Also how can i curl my hair? sometimes my hair wont hold a curl. help!! Also, i really need a new curling iron and a new flat iron, but i seen on tv there's this new one with little heat, and it can do both things to your hair, and you can leave your hair wet. do you know what that is called? i was watching it on paid programing.

please help! any info will do! also i tried goggling these things, but only weird youtube videos came up.. ahh!!

i have the 2 inch red flat chi iron. and some old black iron. i use hair spray.

thanksPlease help on how to flat iron and curl my hair !!!?
Okay, all I can really help you with is the curling question. This is how I curl my hair-and it holds all day.

Begin by applying a styling gel, mousse or styling spray. Your curls will form better if you use good quality products.

Clip your hair back in multiple sections. Release one section and brush or comb it to remove any knots or tangles. Spray lightly with a soft-hold hairspray if your hair is very fine and doesn't hold curls well.

Begin with the undersection of your hair, working your way up to the top. Twist a small section of your hair with your hands for spiral curls, or take a flat, larger section for loose curls.

    Curl desired hair

Roll the iron up and hold it for about 10 seconds.

Open the curling iron and release the curls. Proceed with other sections until all areas have been curled.

Flip your head and shake out the curls, then style your hair with your fingers.

Spray with a light hold hair spray to keep your curls in place.

Good luck and I hope I was of some help! Please help on how to flat iron and curl my hair !!!?
    Keep practicing.
Well with the straightening part... do you use a clip to put the top layer of the hair up, while you do the under layer? If not this will help tons. Also straighting your hair for 7 years can do some damage, hopefully your using some pre-straightner product (can't think what its called :P but i use it, and love it) Maybe your straightner is old. I love my straightner I got at a salon, cost me $120 but is nearly imposible to burn your self, and its better for your hair. As for curling, with an iron, when your hair is wraped around the iron use a light hairspray, dove works great, and spray a few sprays, once all finished use a heavier hair spray, there are tons of products out there for different things, i would go to a salon and ask a proffesional, they will be able to help you tons!

How good are CHI flat irons? I have straight hair and I want big, loose waves. Please answer -- 10 points!?

I'm getting my first flat iron and I really like CHI's Pink Dazzle one, which has a one year warranty (do they last?). I heard CHI irons are energy efficient (20-25 watts) and cause less damage than some other brands' irons because their irons have ceramic coils instead of copper. So anyway, here's what I want to know:

    1. Are they good at preventing damage?

    2. How's the quality; are they sturdy and do they last?

    3. Are the flat irons good for waving your hair?

And since I have no experience with flat irons, I have some questions about using them:

    1. What products should I apply before using them and to maintain the curls/waves afterwards (ie. heat protectant, serums, hairspray)?

    2. What is the best way/technique to curl my hair?

    3. Is it easy to burn yourself and should I prevent that?

    4. Can I use the flat iron on my hair when it's wet and will that lessen the damage even more and dry it, too (I know some irons have built-in blow dryers -- I don't think the one I like does, though, but wouldn't the heat still dry it a bit)?

Also, money's not an issue; I'm not searching for a cheaper alternative unless you have used CHI irons (correctly) and think they're plain rubbish.

Sorry about all of the questions and thanks to everyone who answers =].How good are CHI flat irons? I have straight hair and I want big, loose waves. Please answer -- 10 points!?
Ok..so I've been flat ironing my hair for 4 years..i have gone through many products..many flat irons and many blow dryers !!

funny enough..my last flat iron was the chi !!..i also had a years warranty but what happened was it doesn't work anymore..it wont heat up and the wire is all messed..i took super good care of it and i only had it for 8 months. since i got it from a salon..they said i couldn't get my $$ back..blah blah

chi's are really excellent flat iron..they work great on wavy to extreme curly hair..but so do a lot of other flat irons..the new flat iron i got is vidal sasson for course hair..its AWESOME :D

chi isn't worth it to me :P

to flat iron your hair.. separate it in sections..do your under hair first..clip the rest up..then your middle and then your top..it will insure you get every strand and part of your hair. go from the begging of the root to the end slowly. And use a flat brush (minimizes frizz ;D)

ALWAYS BLOW DRY YOUR HAIR BEFORE FLAT IRONING IT!!!!!! loll...flat ironing wet hair will create sooooo much damage trust! blow dry your hair in sections or as is but spray in a heat protective or a heat protective cream(apply when hair is wet)

a good trick that i do to keep frizz down, make my hair shine and seal the strands..is when your in the shower you probs shower in warm water..so before your done..put the water a bit colder..and rinse out your hair. (:

hope i helped..good luck and remember true beauty comes from confidence and being yourself(:How good are CHI flat irons? I have straight hair and I want big, loose waves. Please answer -- 10 points!?
First, please don't straighten your hair when it's wet. Sooo bad for it.

I would definately recommend a CHI. Use a conditioning product (I'd recommend Paul Mitchell's Strength Super Strong Liquid Treatment) before you blow out your hair and then a heat spray when you are styling (Paul Mitchell's Hot Off The Press). It'll help hold the style and keep your hair in it's best condition.

It's hard to explain exactly how to do it so I found a youtube video that should give you a pretty good idea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sv-JSQbcu鈥?/a>

What are some cute ways to do your hair?

So my hair is like Boring. I have black hair and side bangs which is always straight. i mean cute, but i cant seem to do anything with it.

I have a chi and ive tried to curl my hair with it but its just like this big fail. There's kinks and its just ugly.

I cant scrunch it because it looks gross like i got out of the shower or like crunchy hay.

Can someone explain to me how you do anything with your hair. Pictures, Directions, Videos ?

    Whatever lol just help please.

Btw my hairs super thin:/ and right above my boobs but i have extensions i wear sometimes which i can straighten/curl/whatever its human hair. So yeahWhat are some cute ways to do your hair?
I found some tutorials from youtube designed for people with thin hair, hope this helps. What are some cute ways to do your hair?
You don't have to go over the top!

Do little things like take a front section of hair and braid it. Then bring it to the back of your head and use bobby pins to fasten it. Looks really cute!

If you braid your hair at night after showering and then take the braids out in the morning, your hair will be loose and wavy.

Or you can just add cute clips or headbands to your hair. Easy way to look cute.

LOVE HER. Check out her vids on the side(:
If you have fine hair, you should DEFINITENLY look into the Sam Villa Textur iron! I have really fine hair and it won't hold a curl... until I started using the Textur iron. It basically alters the texture of your hair and changes your hair from fine to full. Go to the website and check it out: http://www.samvilla.com/products/electrics/professional-textur-iron.html

Also, look at these videos - it will show you some ways to use the Textur iron: http://www.samvilla.com/education/s14_Artificial%20Texture%20DVD.html

You also talked about curling your hair with your Chi. Sam's Sleekr flat iron is made to work in unconventional ways. The plates are rounded so your hair doesn't snag on the corners and the body is rounded so it easily creates curls and waves. I LOVE my SV irons!!! http://www.samvilla.com/products/electrics/professional-sleekr-flat-iron.html

Oh - use with Redken's heat styling products (spray starch 15, align 12, fabricate 03, etc..) will protect you hair from the heat and make it look good!

    Do drugstore curling irons work?

I heard that really expensive straighteners like the CHI can also curl your hair, but I was wondering if the $15 drugstore curling irons work?

Because with the money to buy a Chi, I could buy a lot of curling irons of different sizes. I'm just wondering how the quality of the iron is.Do drugstore curling irons work?
    So. We meet again.

I have the Revlon 2-in-1 Straightener/Curler, and the curling iron does NOT hold curls well. It takes an hour to curl my hair, then the curls will fall out after half an hour no matter how much hair spray I use. Maybe that's just my tragic experience, but I highly doubt other curlers will be any better. Save up for a decent iron, trust me.Do drugstore curling irons work?
    The Chi's are absoluetly AMAZING!

It's all ceramic (many will say they are, but aren't!),

and protects your hair from getting burned and fried.

But if you don't want that,

    use a Revlon,

    they work as good,

    but sometimes..

You won't get that qaulity a Chi will give you.
I really don't think it depends on the store.

    it depends on the brand.

    n if it don't work.

then y is it called a curler?
Yes, they take a little longer to curl/ straighten your hair but they work.
    yeah.
no.... they wont go very hot....

    my straightner was $150ish

    and its THE BOMB
maybe but u should try walmart its better

what is a great tool to use to get beautiful curls, not tiny wavy ones but big bold curls.

i have a chi and this other curling thing and a curling iron, but is there anything easier?, im not that good at using those things! lol. im okay with using my chi, but it takes a REALLY long time. and if you need to know how long my hair is for any reason, its medium in length.

I'm able to get big, loose waves using a big curling iron and trust me I never thought I was good at it either. I do have very long hair and I used the tutorials from the website below. I hate curling my own hair, so I use my hairdresser ... he gives me a new perm every three months, and makes it look good once or twice between perms. That is really the ONLY way to get good curls, as far as I'm concerned.
well all i do with the curling iron is first turn it on(duh!). then once it is hot enough i wrap my hair aroung the inside to the outside of the curler with my hair(wrap ur hair in one part of the curler. then press it together for 10 secongs. i let it loose then i spary it with some spray so that it would last
ok here is a wonderful way because i have thick wavy hair so its hardddd to curl and it takes forever so my friend told me how well first wash or wet your hair then put grease put curlers and leave let it dry ohmake sure your hair not dripping like a nice wet wherethe grease will still it worksss sooooooo good you could even use vasaline i usually leave it in for atleast a day
Well I curl my hair a lot, but I use a tiny curling iron because I ave thin hair. I use tresseme heat protector too before I curl my hair s it prevents split ends. Then I use Garnier Fructis hairspray and it works great! I hope this helps you!
I have long, straight, thick hair and the only way it will curl is if I use sponge rollers and Garnier Fructis Curl Shaping Gel.

i really need help! i got a chi for my birthday and i really dont know how to use it! what are some good protections i can spray on my hair? hairstyles? how do you curl your hair with a chi?? thanksChi??heelp!?
if its a real chi, i dont think you need anything to protect your hair. dont use it when your hair is wet....to curl it, use it just like a curling iron, in small sections and pull to ends and curl up..... as far as styles, its a straightener, you can either curl it or go straight lol have fun!Chi??heelp!?
a good spray is one from v05 a good cream is sunsilk
    use protection sprays from salons.
a good heat protectant is the Frizz Ease Thermal Protection serum, beacause it protects your hair and gives it a healthy shine.plus, after your done straightening you can use it on your hair to smooth it out.

if you want to curl your hair with a straightener, start at your roots,go down and twist the straightener up until it almost touches your roots, then go back down until your hair is out of the iron.then you'll have beautiful curls:)
The Chi Silk Infusion - its an extremely good heat protectant and makes your hair really silky soft when you're done. I always use it when straightening my hair. It is a little pricey though, but worth it.

RUN THE IRON THROUGH THE HAIR AND ONCE YOU GET TOWARD THE END LOOSEN THE GRIP AND FLIP IT UNDER OR OUT. BE CAREFUL THOUGH BECAUSE IF YOU ARE USING TO MUCH PRESSURE YOU WILL END UP WITH A KINK. PRACTICE BEFORE YOU NEED THE RESULTS.Chi hair straightener?
Straighten your hair as normal but when you get to the end of your hair flip it out.
    flip the ends
Chi Irons are some of the best out there. The best way to straighten hair is by using a flat iron spray like Sleek by MAtrix iron smoother. Take small sections for best results. As for flip or curling it is all in how you move you iron.
If its the straightener I'm thinking of to flip your hair clamp the straighterner towards the top of a lock of hair but bring the straightener down horizontally on an upper 45 degree angle. Hope thats not too hard to follow.

can you curl your hair with a 1 inch remmington wet to straight straightner? i have been watching youtube videos on how to curl your hair with a straightner, but everyones using a chi. i dont want to spend that much.Curl hair with a remmington wet to straight straightner?
I suggest you don't try using the wet to straight iron at all! It damages hair badly because it isn't supposed to go immediatley from wet to dry like that. It will take a toll on your hair and don't try curling your hair with a straightening iron at all it gets brittle and in those how-to videos many don't actually use that they curl it then edit the straightening iron into the video. Don't try this unless you want unhealthy hair.Curl hair with a remmington wet to straight straightner?
i DO like the wet to straight. i do not use it when my hair is WET but it works great if your hair is damp it gets the moisture out. that makes my hair smoother and less likely to frizz right back up or lose its straightness right away. i LOVE mine. but as i said i do not use it when my hair is WET.

How do i use my straightner to curl my hair?

I have bought a chi straightner and it says it can curl, i have heard you can curl your hair with it like you would with sissors and a ribbon. Please give me more details on excatly how to do this cause when i try it, it really doesnt work well. I have seen others do this what am i doing wrong? How do i use my straightner to curl my hair?
I recently did spiral ringlets on a friend for a wedding with a flat-iron. The first thing is to make sure you have a one-inch iron. Clasp the hair like you normally would--Rather than just pulling it through, flip the iron one-half to one-full turn (while at the scalp) and run it through the length of your hair like that (as you said, like curling a ribbon with scissors). The curls come out absolutely gorgeous if done right. It does take some practice at first. Good luck! How do i use my straightner to curl my hair?
All I do is put it to my hair without moving it, but bend it, either up or down...kind of like you are folding it...that's the only way to describe it that I can think of....and if your hair doesn't curl easy, it'll take some time.
DO NOT DO THAT! It will just damage your hair! You need to clasp the ends of your hair at the bottom of the straightner, then twirl the straightner around so that your hair wraps around the straightner! Hold for around 15 secs. This will cause a ringlet type curl....if you want that then hairspray it straight away. If you want a wavy/beach look then loosley run your fingers in it and apply some wax or other product with the tips of your fingers!

    Good luck
I didn't know you could curl your hair with a straightener but read up on some hair styling tips (maybe go to a hair salon and they can show you, bring your straightener with you) good luck!!
They are hoping you have synthetic hair . You will break your hair if you put that much tension on it. A ribbon is curled with a sizzor edge because DUH%26lt;%26lt;%26lt; it breaks down the ribbon's structure and the broken side pushes the unbroken side thus forming a circle.

They might mean you are able to use it by alternating the wand back wards and forewards creating a wave not really a curl.

i would like to curl my hair with them without making my hair smell burnt,

does anyone have one of this CHI things that they got from the mall??

    and how does i work?

does it make your hair smell burnt?

because before when i curled my hair with a curling iron like a regular one it always smelled burnt.

so i was wondering if this one makes your hair smell badd.

please help me, thanks.Does the CHI straightener/curler make your hair smell burnt?
you might just have a really bad curling iron because it's not supposed to smell, or you could just need to clean it. you can get a moist towel and wipe down the barrel when it is off and cooled down.

the irons from the mall are really bad, they work the first few times, but people drop them once, and they shatter into a millions pieces. people come into my salon all the time telling me how much they regret buying those irons. a chi can curl, and no it doesn't smell. only the 1 inch chi straightener can curl hair btw, unless you are talking about the chi curling iron. you are supposed to clean them off every once in a while, and use a heat protection spray, the best is 44 iron guard from chi.

oh, in case you didn't know, the ones on in the mall aren't chi's, they're just pieces of junk. i can send you a coupon for 20% off at jcpenney salon, where i work, just email me if you want it, and i'll email you the link. jcpenney sells chi's, and they're on sale this week, like $20 bucks off...or maybe it's 25% off, whatever it is, they are on like crazy sale!Does the CHI straightener/curler make your hair smell burnt?
I use the same one and it's never made my hair smell burnt, CHI is a really good brand.

If your really worried about it try heat protection.

well what kind of hair do you have? cuz i've tried three of those and they work...it could be your hair is not straigten-able...go see a stylist
try the maxiglide, they have it on qvc sometimes. If you don't know how to use a curling iron ask a close girl friend or have you mom teach you because it's too hard to explain it by just words alone.
none my daughter has natural curly hair and went to a salon and had it straightened for 400.00 bucks and when she washed it it curled right back up and my niece tryed to straightening it for her twice in a month before the salon and fried her hair she had to let it grow out
CHI works the best for straightening ur hair and curl ur hair too. its a lil expensive but it really work. My mom have like black ppl hair...and it still work so it should work for u.

CHI can curl ur hair a lot bettter than the curling iron...just twist the straightner as u go down...remember to keep twisting until u reach the the end of ur hair or else it would look really weird.
Those really dont work unless you have hair that is thin and maybe wavy.

I suggest a GHD or Chi.

use products! i had the same problem. paul mitchell has quick slip, super skinny serum, sculpting foam (put it in your hair before you dry it), etc. those are the best. if you want something cheaper, go for got2b or sunsilk.

i sometimes spray my hair with a volumizer spray (the kind that you don't have to pump over and over..like samy and aussie aussome volume) before i dry it..that works too

those straighteners are fine..paul mitchell makes a good one if you wanted to try that

    Hello girly

You can curl your hair with straighteners, some say that straighteners with rounded ends are easier to do the job (ie GHD's new range) but it could be a way of getting nore money out of you! I would just use whatever tools you have especially you are like me and already own three pairs of straighteners and curling tongs!! Lol anyway........go on this website here, this should help ya!! If not then email me (bananajam24@yahoo.co.uk) and I iwll try and help ya! http://www.ghdhair.com/uk/goddess-gospel鈥?/a>

    Anyway hope it goes well

How the hell do you curl your hair with a straightener?

everyone says it's so easy to do with a chi iron but i fail to see this...please helpHow the hell do you curl your hair with a straightener?
a little difficult to explain without 'showing'...but...here goes:

    ~ make small sections

~ pull hair through - as if straightening - to the end, just before you reach the end start turning the iron you roll the iron with hair wrapped around the outside of the flat iron......then depending on the look you want....you can pull the iron OUT....leaving the hair wrapped in a curl ...take the flat iron the press the outside with the iron...also...

let it cool wrapped up in the curl as well.....

pin curl the curls with the little silver pin clips so they can cool as well.....

Its more of a bumpy wave look - but its a very cool look.....differentHow the hell do you curl your hair with a straightener?
you have to have like 1/2 inch one, if its like rectangular and wide and 1 inch, its impossible
    CHI Irons...

    -straighten

    -CURL

    -flip

    -style.

Take a small piece of your hair, and wind it around your straitener. If it is a curling one. :]
I'm really sorry if this doesn't help but if you just use it like a straightener then it should work
okay it seems weird but it works. i'll try to explain it to you.

place the chi as the top of your head, near your scalp, and as you go down, twist the chi in a 360 degree motion.

basically, when you straighten your hair, you go straight. when you curl your hair, you continuously turn the straightner.

    hoped i helped(:
It's all in the wrist. Just turn your wrist at the ends either in or out to curl under or flip out... Good luck!

I bought my mom a chi, she doesnt know how to curl her hair with it, I have no idea, does anybody els?

can you curl your hair with one of those things?I bought my mom a chi, she doesnt know how to curl her hair with it, I have no idea, does anybody els?
yes you can very easily curl your hair with a chi. There are many videos on youtube that show how to do this. lemme find one for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ca3k1syt2G4

    how:

    1. grab a small amount of hair

    2. put it in the straightener as if you were about to straighten it

    3. do a 180 degree turn with the straightener... like turn it in a circle

    4. slowly pull down.I bought my mom a chi, she doesnt know how to curl her hair with it, I have no idea, does anybody els?
yeah i think you can is it that one that you kinda use like a straightener but actually makes it curly?? if so just use like a straightener!
If you mean just curling the ends like, in or out lol then all you do is straighten the hair like normal then about 1 inch from the tip you turn the straightner towards or away from you.... if that makes sense :)
If she wants ringlets, its very difficult as you can't touch the tip of the straightener, and its easier to just use a curling iron. If she wants flippy ends, then straighten to the point where she wants a flip and the turn up ward and out or upwards and in. (: Hope that helps a little.
A curling iron would be better.

But look on youtube for ';how to curl hair with a straightener';. There's TONS of videos.

How do you curl your hair with a strait iron?!?

Chi's do not last long. Don't waste your money, and don't listen to the one's that are telling you it's the best. Sedu is one of the best straighteners out there and it is only $100.

To purcase a Sedu at the cheapest price, go to Folica.com , scroll to the very top and click on Hair Styling. On the left hand side, there will be and A - Z brand list. Find Sedu, click on it, and everything else from there is self - explanitory.

me too. i have a chi straightner as well like the `120.00 dollar one. i tried to do it but it leaves lines in my hair.

go to youtube and there are videos of girls curling their hair with flat irons.

    good luck.
If you donot have straightners i would recomend to get because they are easy to use and creat the perfect curls.

To crea the perfect curls with irons you have to have the thin irons not the thick. E.g GHDS .

put the iron at the end of your hair then curl it up the same as what you do with curlers and then pull the curls out when you are curling?

its quite hard to explain and sorry if thats no help! x

How do you curl your hair with a flat iron?

I have heard you could curl hair with a flat iron. I have naturally curly hair but I want nice big curls like these:http://dyn-images.hsni.com/is/image/HomeShoppingNetwork/429214?$pd300$

I know I can use hot curlers but they take to long and curling irons tend to hate me. :)

    I have a chi straighter.

Personal Experience, videos or anything would be great

thanks! How do you curl your hair with a flat iron?
normal ones don't really do anything, they kind of crimp it you do that by fastening the flat iron on the end of your hair, and wrapping it around till your at your root, then hold for 10 seconds and let it go. You need a special flat iron for curling hair. Your best bet is a big barrel curling iron, or curl enhancer. How do you curl your hair with a flat iron?
This is what I've seen on tv and a vendor in the mall selling flat irons stopped me because I have long hair that I regularly straighten. He took my hair in a small section and with the iron fully heated, put the hair in the iron up high near the scalp or wherever you want the curls to start and then you wind the hair over and over the iron itself and not twirling the iron. You hold the hair in place for however tight you want the curl and gently release the hair from the iron. I had a beautiful soft wavy curl with it done in that fashion. To straighten the curl, you just flat iron in the normal way. Hope this works for you.
sometimes this works but i take the straightener and put hair in it, and twist it hold it and let go, sometimes that works good luck
This helped me a lot, and I also have a chi.

    chis suck

unless you have an old one

from at least 5 years ago

baybliss flat irons are wayy better
you would do the same thing as if you were curling your hair...

yur just using a hair straightener
I have a chi that works pretty well.

start with it at the point of your hair you want to curl to start, clamp down on your hair and move it slowly down you hair going in circles. Don't hold it too tight or you'll get creases in your hair.
start at the mid part of your hair and then make motions like your flipping your hair outwards but continue doing it until you get to the end. And you have to put some pressure on it. Watch YouTube turorials. It's really easy.

    good luckk
The CHI is probably better. I have a CHI myself and I am in love with it. Here is a simple video on how to curl your hair with a flat iron.

there you go!How do you spiral curl your hair?
chi works great. just start at the top of your hair, and twist it the direction you want your spiral to go and drag it all the way down. let it go and it should pop up perfect.
you could either get a better curler and curl your hair in layers (i reccomend conair)

or if your hair is naturally curly just gel it.
just rap it around the iron and pull it out

go to youtube and type how to curl hair with flat iron ( or straigther it that doesnt work)
they have curling irons made for spiral curls. at Walgreen'ss and walmart. cheap (20bucks). products: just look on hair aisle
Hun i cant think of any other way besides taking hours anhours!!! (curling iron)
